The whole disease in one chain

Tiny clots form throughout small blood vessels, shredding red blood cells and using up platelets.
Highway Pile-Up from Broken Traffic Lights
Imagine a highway where ADAMTS13 is a traffic officer who normally breaks up long convoys of trucks (vWF multimers) into single vehicles so they move safely. In TTP, the officer disappears—giant 20-truck convoys stay stuck together, blocking lanes and causing pile-ups everywhere. In HUS, the highway itself is damaged by a toxic spill (Shiga toxin) or attacked by hostile drones (complement), so even normal traffic triggers crashes. Either way, cars (red blood cells) get crushed in the wreckage, tow trucks (platelets) get used up pulling cars out faster than new ones arrive, and critical exits (organs like the brain and kidneys) get cut off from traffic flow. The highway looks calm on the surface (normal blood pressure), but underneath, the damage spreads until suddenly a major intersection (organ) stops working.
