The One-Line Truth

The whole disease in one chain

Everything on this page exists to explain this line.

A pneumothorax is air inside the chest that does not belong there, and it squeezes the lung so the lung cannot fill with air the way it should.

Sealed room with a punctured wall

Imagine a room sealed so tightly that the air pressure inside is slightly lower than outside—this gentle vacuum holds a flexible balloon (your lung) pressed flat against the inside wall. When someone punches a hole in the wall, outside air rushes in and the balloon loses its suction cup hold, collapsing inward like a deflated party balloon. If the hole acts like a one-way valve—air can get pushed in but cannot escape back out—pressure inside the room keeps climbing with every breath, like a pump running nonstop. This mounting pressure shoves everything in the center of the room (furniture, doorways, pipes) toward the opposite wall, kinking the water pipes (veins) so water cannot flow back to the main line. The room becomes a pressurized box crushing the plumbing; eventually, the main supply pump (heart) has nothing to work with and stops.
