The One-Line Truth

The whole disease in one chain

Everything on this page exists to explain this line.

The thyroid gland stops making enough hormone, so the whole body slows down—energy, warmth, digestion, heart rate, and mood all drop because every cell needs thyroid hormone to run at normal speed.

A Factory Running in Slow Motion

Imagine a huge factory where the manager (thyroid gland) is supposed to send out work orders (thyroid hormone) that tell every department how fast to operate. When the manager gets sick or is removed, fewer orders go out, so every department slows down: the shipping department moves packages slower (constipation), the heating system makes less warmth (you feel cold), the accounting department processes money slower (cholesterol builds up), and the workers get tired because they're not getting the energy signals they need (fatigue and brain fog). The main office (pituitary) keeps shouting louder orders (TSH rises) trying to wake up the sick manager, but if the manager can't respond, the whole factory just grinds to a halt. If someone suddenly demands the factory speed up (infection, surgery, stress), the exhausted system can't handle it and crashes into a blackout (myxedema coma).
