The One-Line Truth

The whole disease in one chain

Everything on this page exists to explain this line.

Calcium keeps muscles and nerves firing smoothly; when it's off, everything from your heartbeat to your brain misfires.

Calcium is your body's electrical current

Think of blood calcium as electrical current flowing through wires (nerves and muscles). PTH and vitamin D are the circuit breakers and power plant that keep the voltage steady—PTH releases stored energy from the battery (bone), and vitamin D opens faucets (gut) to let more current flow in. When PTH breaks or vitamin D shuts down, the wires go dark (hypocalcemia) and neurons start misfiring like static electricity—muscles twitch randomly, the voice box slams shut, and the heart rhythm goes haywire. When a tumor forces PTH to stay on, or cancer floods the line with extra calcium, the voltage climbs so high the wires overheat (hypercalcemia), the kidneys start dumping current as fast water (polyuria), and dehydration makes the whole system spiral into shutdown because there's no water left to carry the signal.
