The One-Line Truth
The whole disease in one chain
Everything on this page exists to explain this line.
In hyperlipidemia, the bedside team that spots silent vascular risk early — checking lipids, blood pressure, and family history — outperforms the team that waits for a stroke or heart attack.
Arterial Plumbing Clogged by Grease Buildup
Your bloodstream is like the kitchen plumbing in a busy restaurant. LDL particles are delivery trucks carrying grease (cholesterol) to feed the cells that need it. Normally, garbage trucks (HDL) pick up leftover grease before it hardens. But when too many delivery trucks flood the pipes—or the garbage trucks break down—grease seeps through cracks in the pipe walls and hardens into buildup on the inside. This buildup thickens over months and years, narrowing the pipe and slowing flow. Eventually, a chunk of crust breaks loose, causes a clot that plugs the pipe completely, and something downstairs (the kitchen sink, or in your body, the heart or brain) stops working entirely.
