The One-Line Truth

The whole disease in one chain

Everything on this page exists to explain this line.

Bacteria are growing in the skin layers (dermis and the fat tissue just beneath it).

Home Invasion and Security Response

Your skin is a gated community: the epidermis is the fence, the dermis is the neighborhood with streets (blood vessels) and security stations (immune cells), and the subcutaneous fat is the residential area behind. When a burglar (bacterium) breaks through the fence via a hole (cut, bug bite, crack from athlete's foot), the security system triggers: police cars (white blood cells) rush in through the streets, the neighborhood fills with police presence (fluid and redness from vasodilation), and dispatch sends alerts up the chain to the regional station (lymph node sends signals). If the burglar multiplies faster than police can arrest them, the crime spreads through the neighborhood—and if they reach the main utility lines (fascia and blood vessels), the power goes out (tissue dies from lack of oxygen). The siren (fever) and increased patrol (leukocytosis) are the security company doing everything right; the danger is if the burglar network grows faster than the response can handle, and the whole neighborhood goes dark (sepsis and shock).
