A factory restart after shutdown

Your heart is like a factory that just suffered an explosion (the heart attack or surgery). Right after, the factory sits idle—workers stay home (physical deconditioning), the safety systems are on high alert but confused (anxiety and depression), and the pollutants that caused the explosion (high blood pressure, cholesterol, smoking) are still in the air venting from the smokestacks (uncontrolled risk factors). A factory owner who just reopens the doors without retraining workers, fixing the pollution source, or checking the safety systems will have another explosion. Cardiac rehab is the structured restart plan: gradually bring workers back with supervision (monitored exercise), clean the air vents (control blood pressure and cholesterol with medicine and diet), train everyone on new safety protocols (education about warning signs and medicines), and install a real-time alarm system (symptom recognition and follow-up care). Without this plan, the same broken conditions that caused the first disaster are still there, waiting to blow up again.
