The One-Line Truth
The whole disease in one chain
Everything on this page exists to explain this line.
Breast cancer survival depends on catching it early and knowing the exact type, because each type responds to different treatments.
A Factory's Quality Control Breaks Down
A breast is like a milk factory with strict quality control: supervisors (tumor suppressor genes like TP53) fire defective workers, and managers (growth signals) only hire when needed. In normal breasts, old workers clock out and die naturally (apoptosis), and new ones arrive only when the factory gets a legitimate order (hormone signals from estrogen or progesterone). When a worker's DNA gets damaged, the supervisor should catch it and fire that worker—but if the supervisor itself is broken (BRCA1/BRCA2 mutation), the damaged worker stays on the line. That worker then ignores the "stop hiring" signal (contact inhibition), clones itself endlessly, and starts a rogue operation (tumor). The factory's security team (immune system) tries to wall off the rogue section, but the rogue workers learn to disguise themselves (turn off tumor markers, release PD-L1 checkpoint signals), so security stands down. Once the rogue operation breaks through the factory walls and spreads its workers to the shipping warehouse (lymph nodes), then trucks (blood vessels) carry them to other factories (bones, lungs, liver, brain)—and that's when the whole corporation fails.
