Phase 1 · Understand the Body — Why the disease behaves the way it does.
The One-Line Truth
The whole disease in one chain
Everything on this page exists to explain this line.
The heart cannot pump blood forward, so blood backs up into the lungs and fluid floods the air sacs where you breathe.
The Backed-Up Sink Drowning the Bathroom
Imagine the kitchen sink drain is clogged (the weakened left ventricle cannot push blood forward). Water backs up in the sink instead of flowing down the pipe (blood backs up into the pulmonary veins instead of being pumped into the aorta). The pressure builds so high that water overflows onto the bathroom floor through the air vents in the walls (high venous pressure forces fluid out of lung capillaries into the alveoli). Meanwhile, the toilet tank senses the water level is low because so little is flowing through (the kidneys sense low forward flow), so it runs constantly and keeps refilling the tank (RAAS holds onto salt and water, adding more fluid to an already flooded system). You are mopping frantically, trying to remove water faster than it is pouring in (diuretics trying to remove fluid while the pump is failing), but the real problem is the clogged drain upstream (the failing heart), not the amount of water. The bathroom drowns because you treated the symptom instead of the cause.
